Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership (THEBP) introduces connectED, a series of virtual programmes aimed at supporting young people during the move to home learning.
THEBP has adapted its core offer in schools to continue to develop students’ employability, life skills and exposure to business volunteers during the move to home learning.
As the move to home learning adds more uncertainty and increases the risk of isolation for young people, this offer will help young people stay connected, engaged and educated in the skills they need for the now and their future. The offer is available to all schools in TH (and beyond to all schools interested) to support teachers and students either learning from home or in school.
Super Speakers
Super Speakers is a series of live talks for upper key stage 2 children that will cover relevant and engaging topics about working life to increase their understanding on how the skills they’re learning now will benefit them in the future.
In a live webinar format, which will last approx. 20 minutes in total, the talks will be hosted by an experienced THEBP facilitator and supported by business volunteers. With a superhero theme, the webinars will promote the power and importance of the skills the pupils are developing. Our business volunteers will share their experiences and tips, and there will be an opportunity for the students to ask them questions.
These webinars will be available on demand following the event.
Topics include: The Power of Reading, The Power of Maths and The Power of Science and Technology.
Inspirational Speakers
Inspirational Speakers is a series of webinars for secondary school students that cover relevant and engaging topics that focus on developing skills that they can benefit from now during lockdown, as well as how they can be utilised during employment.
These webinars will provide students with the opportunity to be inspired by and hear advice from business professionals across a variety of sectors. In a live webinar format, which will last approx. 25 minutes in total, each webinar will be hosted by an experienced THEBP facilitator and supported by business volunteers. Our business volunteers will be available to answer any questions students may have, to support them now and in preparation of their future career.
These webinars will be available on demand following the event.
Topics include: Resilience and Wellbeing, Skills for Success and Transitions.
A Day in the Life
During a time where work experience and chances to visit places of work have been postponed, THEBP will provide students, primary and secondary, with the chance to experience A Day in the Life of a diverse range of business professionals. Included in our weekly newsletter, two bitesize videos recorded by our volunteers will shared each week on what it is like to work in their company and sector.
Our Director, Helen Sanson, said: “I am very proud of the team at THEBP and our fantastic business partners who have responded to our urgent requests for help in creating connectED. Children and young people need our support to stay connected to their learning, connected to each other and connected to the outside world. This new series of programmes will give students something different and inspiring they can share with friends and family, and it will give teachers some much needed resources to support their enormous workload.â€
